Low level mage is well known for being a long exercise in frustration; accidentally pull one than more mob, or have one or two unlucky resits and you’re dead. And poor speccing can only make this worse. My Frost leveling build will give you at least some of the tools you’ll need to make questing a bit less painful. And after we go over talents, we’ll discuss proper Major and Minor Glyph choices for a leveling mage.

Imp. Frostbolt 5/5 – Duh

Icy Floes 3/3 – Being able to use Frost Nova on pretty much every pull is amazing.

Permafrost 3/3 – Snares are what make Frost Frost, so this is obvious.

Ice Shards 3/3 – First part of the Shatter Combo; doesn’t seem like much at this point, but…

Icy Veins 1/1 – Strong cooldown; make sure to use it often.

Shatter 3/3 – Combined with Ice Shards, you’ll now get at least one insane Frostbolt crit a fight thanks to Frost Nova.

Arctic Reach 2/2 – Obvious talent; more range + snares = less damage

Frostbite 3/3 – Useful talent that we’ve skipped for better talents until now

Cold Snap 1/1 – Obvious handy cooldown.

Piercing Ice 1/3 – Filler.

Winter’s Chill 3/3 – Obvious general damage buff.

Cold As Ice 2/2 – Nice reduction on a lot of cooldowns.

Ice Barrier 1/1 – Finally a bit of survivability; also…

Shattered Barrier 2/2 – Another Shatter and Control talent? Awesome.

Piecing Ice 3/3 – More filler, finish it up.

Empowered Frostbolt 2/2 – Obvious damage buff

Fingers of Frost 2/2 – Amazing; more Shatters and later, Deep Freezes.

Frost Warding 1/2 – Filler talent.

Summon Water Elemental 1/1 – Welcome to being strong. It’s taken a while, but here you are.

Enduring Winter 3/3 – We’re using Eternal Water so the cooldown doesn’t mean much, but Replenishment is completely amazing.

Brain Freeze 3/3 – Free Instant Fireball = Mana efficient and a kiting opportunity.

Chilled To The Bone 3/5 – Good but not good enough to finish

Deep Freeze 1/1 – Awesome. The last piece of the true “Shatter Combo” puzzle. Drop it and nuke your enemy with crit after crit.

Your best bet once you get Deep Freeze is to branch out; there are some nice talents in arcane that will make your Frost leveling build better than more frost talents could make it.

Arcane Subtlety 2/2

Arcane Focus 3/3 – This and subtlety are mostly just fillers, but you need them.

Magic Absorbtion 2/2

Arcane Fortitude 3/3 – More defensive stuff. Could take Clearcasting instead, but mana isn’t an issue at this level.

Spell Impact 3/3 – Straight damage buff

Magic Attunement 2/2 – Extra range on several utility spells.

Torment The Weak 3/3 – Huge damage buff for Frost.

Improved Counterspell 2/2 – Handy utility talent to finish the spec.

Of course, even with this spec you’ll find yourself facing a bit of a rough time until you get the proper talents for the “Shatter” combos frost is known for; once you have that though things get easier. When you get to level fifty and get your Water Elemental, you’ll wonder that you ever doubted mage; you become unstoppable. Honestly you could forget talents entirely after that and do fine.

Now then, that’s enough about our Frost leveling build; how about the Glyphs that go with it? I recommend these in this order of priority while leveling; take what you can get from as high as possible on the list:

Eternal Water – Permanent pet is definitely worth it.

Evocation – A strong heal is a major benefit while leveling, reducing downtime.

Ice Barrier – Similar to Evocation, but damage reduction instead of healing. Still, IB isn’t something you want to spend mana on TOO often, so be careful.

Frost Nova – Get an extra attack or two off while the opponent is snared (and getting critted hard!)

Ice Armor – A bit more endurance is handy at low levels.

As for Minor Glyphs, Slow Fall, Ice Armor, and Arcane Intellect are decent. I hope this all has helped you out, and that you get to level eighty quickly and easily!

I hope this spec helps you level your mage quickly. If you don’t already have one, let me also recommend finding a good questing guide to really speed you up; check out my comparison review of the top guides to find a good one.

And when you reach 80, my mage gold farming guide should help you out a bit.

The Adobe Flash player plug in provide two amazing problems, one on certain web sites you can not close pop ups of stuff to buy, the other is Adware Flash cookie, this lets someone spy on you all the time. I’am trying to get everyone to complain to flash make to fix this. It is Spyware file.
