Looting the corpse

Once you have killed him you can now loot his corpse to retrieve items or money that he might have been carrying. You do this by right-clicking on the corpse. With any luck you will receive a plainstrider meat and plainstrider feather. Some plainstriders will only have one of the two on them and some will have neither.

Completing your first quest

As you kill them keep heading south-east until you reach a contraption that looks like some sort of well. Beside this you will find Greatmother Hawkwind, who you have been tasked with finding. She should have a yellow question mark above her head to indicate that you need to talk to her as part of a quest and she will also appear on your minimap as a yellow dot. If the question mark was gray then it would mean that you need to talk to her for a quest but you haven't collected all the items you need first.

Talk to her to complete your first quest and get 17 copper coins as a reward. She will also offer you another quest to return a water pitcher to her son back at the camp. Accept this quest and walk up to the well. Right click on one of the three pitchers on the ledge to get your water pitcher. Once you have that start heading back to the camp, killing plainstriders along the way to complete your other quest.

Getting to level 2

Somewhere along the way you should level up to level 2. This means that you will be able to receive new spells from your trainer back at the camp. We'll get to that in a bit. For now just make sure you have enough plainstrider meat and feathers to complete your quest before returning to the camp. If you pick up pieces of leather armor while killing plainstriders then make sure to put them on to give you a bit more protection.

You can put a new bit of armor on by right clicking it from your backpack (B key) or by dragging it to your character sheet (C key) from your backpack. If you find a better bit of armor than you currently have then use that instead. Better bits of armor will have higher armor numbers on them. Don't bother with cloth or mail armor pieces that you find, sell those instead. You will need some money for the new spells you will get.
