Creating your character
The first step to becoming a druid is of course creating a druid character. Fire up World Of Warcraft and choose the server that you want your druid to be on. For the purpose of this guide I'm going to pick a normal server.
You only have two choices of race for your druid. Tauren, if you choose to fight for the Horde or Night Elf, if you choose the side of the Alliance. I'm going to help out the Horde and create a Tauren druid. The rest of this guide will of course not be as useful for all you Alliance players out there. Later on I intend to create a guide for an Alliance race, though probably not for the Druid class but the quest walkthroughs will be hopefully be useful.
Anyway, back to getting us playing a Tauren Druid. Use the Create New Character screen to create a Tauren Druid to your liking. As you can see from the screenshot I went for a dark, big-horned, evil looking one. Once you've finished you'll be returned to the character list screen. Double click your new character to get started.
If this is your first time creating a Tauren character then take a few minutes to watch the intro sequence. It's pretty damn cool and contains some interesting World Of Warcraft lore. If you've seen it all before then hit the escape key to get straight in to the game. You should see a screenshot similar to the one below when you start. You'll notice that I'm not using any interface addons for this guide. While some addons are very handy to have installed, not everybody uses them and I want this guide to be useful to everyone.
Setting up your interface
There are a couple of things you might want to change on the interface though. For instance, later on when you have a lot more spells at your disposal it is useful to have lots of places to put them. I always start by setting up my interface the way I want it for the rest of my playing time. Hit the escape key and press the Interface Options button. From the screenshot below you can see what settings I have chosen. Set them up whatever way you feel comfortable with.
