Drop rates
The rate at which talons drop can be quite low, so you may have to spend a fair bit of time killing these guys. Some quests that you do will have regular drop rates and some will have very low drop rates. Somewhere along the way you will likely get to level 8 but wait to finish these quests before going back to get your new skills.
Playing with your technique
Also, around level 8 it is worth trying to get four Wrath spells cast before casting Moonfire because you have a bit more mana to play with and monsters are getting harder to kill. Play about with how many to see what suits you best. Some people don't mind having more downtime at the end of a fight if they can kill quickly. It's important to find a style that suits you.
When you have your talons head north back to the path and start heading back towards the village. There is one more quest we want to do quickly before heading back. When you get back to the dirt path shown in the screenshot below follow it out to the north. At the end of the path you will find the smoking ravaged caravan that you need for your other quest.
Clear a path up to the center of the caravan and right click on one of the sealed supply crates to complete the The Ravaged Caravan quest and get a new one to return to Morin Cloudstalker who was the guy we met on the path. Head back along the path you followed to get here and find him. Talk to him to hand that quest in and pick up the two new ones he will offer you. Now head on back to the village.
You know the drill by now. Sell your loot, hand in the quests, pick up the new quests, repair your equipment if necessary and then go see your druid trainer for new spells. The only new quest you will get now is the Thunderhorn Totem from Mull.
More Spells At Level 8
The two spells you get at level eight are Entangling Roots and a new version of Healing Touch. Replace your old Healing Touch with the new one and put Entangling Roots down beside Moonfire. Entangling Roots
If after getting your new spells you have some money to spare and you haven't managed to pick up any pouches for extra inventory space then it's worth thinking about buying one or two. They pay for themselves fairly quickly because you can carry more loot back from your expeditions. You can get them from the general goods merchant in the main hut for 5 silver each.
